    Motorcraft Water Pump

I have a brand new Ford E1AE-8505-AA water pump in my garage.

Believe this was intended to work on 5.0s and 5.8 until some date in 1988? Like June? What was the change after then? Can I use this water pump on a 1989 Grand Marquis 5.0/302?

    * What was the change that happened June 1988 on these cars? I see water pump impeller diameters changed behind the backing plate? Is this true? And that the casting changed from cast iron to aluminum?

you can use it... cast iron was kept around as the HD pump and the aluminum was the standard pump (as I understand it). As long as it's the correct rotation pump, it should bolt right up and work (and according to my searches, it is the right pump). The cast iron pumps require 2 more studs than the aluminum though.

What he said, though the 2 extra fastners are standard 5/16" bolts. Not sure the length, but about 1 3/4" sounds right. Make sure you clean those holes out if you don't currently have a pump that uses them.
