Intake or filter???

The standard purlator or any other cheap replacement filter is plenty for a stock lopo motor since it uses restrictive intakes and a 50mm tb. Just don't use a k&n filter, they are junk and flow in too much air & dirt for a street-driven car.
Here's a pic of my setup, I'm still putting it together since I won't be driving my car much. Im going to upgrade to a mustang upper intake and tb that I have, I just need to have my egr spacer bored out to 63 mm first. I need a better elbow for the tb though, a bracket to mount the filter, and a washer bottle from a camaro.

What about replacement filter brands, since I probobly will just get a new filter rather than make a CAI kit of my own. I've heard that Airaid and Fram are good brands.

Guest repliedNo CAI kits for boxes, you have to make your own one - relocate the radiator overflow and the washer fluid bottles, run a straight pipe throught the hole behind them, make a 90* bend to right, and bring the air filter right behind the grill. Have fun with that if you got an air compressor or some extra coolers though.

The cold air kits aren't cheap and you will need to fabricate yours to work on the lopo 5.0. Some people are using honda civic intakes or the mac one for 87-93 5.0 stangs. I've been working on an experimental setup on my car since I will be walking to work for most of the summer.
I got my kit for free but the same kit in pepboys was $70 and worked on a honda civic. You need to relocate or replace the washer fluid bottle and the coolant overflow reservior, they take up all the space where a cold air kit would need to go. I cut the coolant/washer bottle in half (I have a spare I took from a junkyard) and mounted the coolant reservior to the corner where the wahser fluid reservior would have sit. I can't use my stock washer bottle though, so I will be bolting one up from a camaro when I get it.

Intake or filter???
Anyone know a place to get a cold-air intake for a box(store, website) or which brand air filter if I just go with a replacement filter? Prices would be helpful, but if you don't know them it's okay.Tags: None
