Please let us know if things are working or not. This is still somewhat a work in progress so don't be too surprised if things magically appear from one visit to the next.
Still waiting for Scottmang to get back with me on them. I *think* he's still supposed to be doing them, but I know he's been busy. If I can keep the work "in the family" I want to.
Been calling some local yards here this morning, and not so good news. If I ever manage to find an assload of land, I'm opening a salvage yard. Found one 351 in Mobile, for the low, low price of $750, and another in P'cola (guy in Mobile gave me a number to call for a yard over there) for the only modestly higher price of $799.
The last place I tried told me he thought he may have one in a 1990 Ford Club Wagon van, but he wasn't sure and if I wanted to find out, I'd have to come look for myself. If it turned out to be, I'd also have the pleasure of pulling it myself, and when I let out a sigh over the phone he said "yeah that's why it's been sitting back there so long." He did mention they'd let me borrow an A-frame (no other tools are loaned out, gotta bring your own), but I didn't think an A-frame would do a heck of a lot of good pulling an engine from a van. Heat index is supposed to be 106 today, I didn't even ask how much they wanted for it.
The search continues...
*EDIT*
Remembered about a place in Pascagoula, they have one... $650. Maybe the key is to keep moving west. Time to call Fresh.
I actually found something that I think I'll like better in the end. Brian (460 Panther) is selling me his block, I'm picking it up on Saturday. A friend of mine that's planning to help me with the project is off this week, so we're going to be making some trips to the machine shop to figure out the best plan of attack. If I'm remembering correctly the engine is a D1VE casting and the heads are D3VE.
