My crown vic has stock exhaust. I have the hemi's on my '76 gran torino but the chassis is very similar and there was plenty of room... I also have hemi's on my '73 mustang and they fit in there, barely...

There are some pictures of the hemi super turbos in my '76 gran torino readers ride thread...

There is a video of the '73 mustang in the multimedia forum...

They would definitely make up some extra length mang! Hemi's are the longer 21" case.

I don't have much experience with mufflers for comparison. I like the magnaflows I currently have.

Once in a blue moon the drone irritates me on the highway, but I like the way it sounds like a v8 even at idle.

Occasionally they do catch a resonating frequency with the rear quarter, makes a buzzing noise I haven't found yet. But not a big deal.

            I thought you liked loud?

I request you to get Walker Quietflows. Primarily because I want to hear what they actually sound like.

IMO, performance mufflers = loud. Though Super Turbos aren't too awful. My short-lived Super Turbo system might have been pretty bearable if not for pipes trying to resonate me into oblivion.

I also have a couple pairs of Flowbastards you could have for cheap.

Nah, no Flows for the CV. It's not me that likes the car loud, it's my mom. Ever since she drove my old Malibu, she wanted her car to be just as loud. I'm not 20 years old anymore and I would like something that I can start up in the morning w/o waking the neighbors; that's what cutouts are for anyways. Aren't the only Walker Quiet Flows in a 2.5" size for a Caddy and go for $100 a pop?

Size and configuration are perfect for a Panther, but yeah, and price is the main reason I didn't try them (got a good deal on the Super Turbos, which according to the "Sounds of Dynomax" video were only a little louder).

The welding and fabrication in that link is absolutely hideous.

The proper way to install an electric dump tube, is with a flanged wye pipe.

I have an electric dump tube on my Dodge. See below:

Yes... that exhaust is on my daily driver, and I wind it up quite a bit. But sometimes the drone and buzzing interior trim drives me a little wonky on my way into work at 6 am.

*EDIT: Damn, my truck was dirty in that video...

true... I said I like the idea... didn't say anything about the implementation. :smirk:

this....we have some on my dad's street rod (carbed 302, mild cam) And they are really quiet. They have a nice low rumble (but not really loud, almost perfect) at idle, and at speed, are virtually silent (until you get on the accelerator). And last time I checked, they are like 30 bucks a pop.

$30? Pfft. My generic turbo-type economy mufflers (19" case) were more like $19 each.

I'm definitely considering welding up a set of long tubes. The only thing that has me a little queasy is welding the primaries to the collectors. The center of each collector seems to be inaccessible. Perhaps brazing? Or sweat fitting the collectors to the primaries? Hmmmmm.....something to think about.

press forming the 4 pipes to make a + in the center... or just fill in the gaps with weld. I've also seen some make a pyramid-ish shape to fill up the gap and weld that in then put the collector on and weld around. The idea behind the pyramid is to kill the dead air space in the collector. Less eddies... better flow.
