my old lopo got 24 mixed everywhere i went.. after the HO conversion i get anywhere from 17-21. i dont think the HO likes the 2.73 gears very much, seems to lug everywhere i go and the top speed is probably ridiculous.Give a man a fish and he will be fed for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will promptly forget that he once did not know, and proceed to call anyone who asks, a n00b and flame them on the boards for being stupid.

Its bullshit that you pay full price for fuel with ethanol crap in it that just brings down your mileage. If there going to willingly lower your fuel mileage, at least charge less so it equals out. I run supreme in my civic and i went from about 35 to 44 mpg (however the 42 figure has been calculated over only 3 fill ups and the 35 has been averaged over a lot more driving so i expect the 44 to fall by a few).79 Grand Marquis

In the pre-ethanol days I had a 73 VW Beetle with twin carbs, a mild cam, and a header. I beat the piss out of it and it did 27 mpg all day long mixed driving with premium 93 octane. It would get 22 mpg with regular, plus it pinged and ran generally poorly. At the time, regular was like 89 cents and premium was $1.05 or something. It was actually cheaper dollars per mile to run it on premium fuel. People used to look at me like I was nuts, putting high octane fuel in a rusted out 27 year old Volkswagen but it made a difference. It was something like 7.8:1 compression, which is stupidly low, but it was air cooled so the cylinder temperatures were naturally a fair bit higher than a water cooled engine so the high octane was actually useful.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

There is a lot more to MPG than cutting everything out of the car.
Electric fan, gears, skinny tires, lots of aero mods- drop it, undertray, seal up the grille. Alignments also effect the milage, whatever you can to to lower the rolling resistance of the car will help. Lightweight wheels, aluminum driveshaft...electric water pump
My old vic was able to average 24mpg with 3.73 gears, free flowing exhaust, electric fan....Builder/Owner of Badass Panther Wagons

Phunky, never heard of that site before.
Amusing if there's any accuracy to the 2.3L Fox LTD being originally rated no better than a SEFI 5.0L Panther.
Still, has anyone actually gotten 30mpg from a 5.0L Panther?2012 Mazda5 Touring | Finally working on the LTD again!
