    procomp engine heads

is anybody knows anything about procomp engine heads for 302 sbf? there are lot of sellers with 'em. and there are many words on other forums about procomp. one half told that this heads are very good, but the other told that procomp heads are the worst heads in the whole world

Not the worst... but require a lot of work to make them usable. Better off getting Trick Flow or AFR heads.

      procomp heads

Better google procomp sucks. A machinest said procomp sb ford heads warp bad. BB mopar 440 procomps are edelbrock victor copies with bad problems like not quoted valve size, not even close, bad geometry, maybe casted in wrong places(rocker stands)? cheap parts. They say to buy them bare but better to buy the edelbrocks instead for 3-400 more. They do flow good up to 400 .

I like the trick flows. Email or call john kasse in georgia, the ford genius. He took a jy ard gt motor that made 300 hp, put gt 40 heads to 400, then designed a head and made 500 hp on a real mild head 10 years ago. I wonder if he made those heads into production. He did the 429 scj heads for ford, they screwed him. Now he makes the boss 429 hemi heads the way ford should have. He wins alot of engine masters contests. Give him a call.

This is what I've heard. They are on the cheap end of the spectrum. Trick Flow Twisted Wedge or AFR heads are very popular...check sbftech.com for great info on heads for our motors.

            procomp heads

I noticed after i clicked off moscow and not the moscow in maine.

I just glanced at johnkasseracing .com? and it seems hes mostly into bb fords and some clevelands now. You can still email kim some questions. Im sure the russia will get his attention

I just found the article i mentioned earlier from 10=2004 from jegs/kasse cylinder article.

            a stock 302 made 351 hp- 317 tq
            218-228 hyd roller gave 268-330
holley systemax int > 30 hp to 298 hp
            jegs/kasse heads up 83 hp to381 hp 373 tq
            256 solid roller to 425 hp-389 tq
edelbrock victor-750 holley gave 511 hp 7800 rpm all on stock not rebuilt bottom end

            require own valve covers pushrods

Maybe jegs.com still sells them. I wonder if their better than trick flows or afr.
U better have good machinests over there to fix procomps problems.

              procomp heads

I meant the stock 302 made 251 hp, not 351hp

83 hp increase from his heads is a pretty good increase on such a mild build. He said it would be more on a bigger build.

About 5 years ago i saw a ford magazine that tested at least 10-15 sbford aftermarket heads. Onemonth was all the specs, next month flo testing, next month all dyno testing. every head at the time. Must be on internet archives somewhere. Maybe someone here has it. Im sure newer & better versions and heads have come since, but still alot of good info.

Imo afr or trick flow heads are the best for street small blocks.

Procomps usually cost more to make usable than you save by buying them. Think spending 1000 bucks or more to fix an 800 dollar head. All that when a 1500 dollar head would have been a better performer with no extra work.

Procomp is one of the companies that gives chinese car parts their bad reputation.

I have worked on or rather fixed procomp heads. They are poor quality lots of core shift and less than adiquite machine work. Also cheep valve train parts.
Another head not mentioned is Brodex. I perfer them over most.

More info on what your intended engine build might help.

I've heard from reputable sources that in some cases, the procomp heads out of the box flow no better or worse than OEM iron. They can be made to work right, but the time and money involved makes them a poor value.
