    what about EFI performance intakes?

as i see - there are lot of manufacturers of this stuff. i think that bbk 5001 is pretty good, but it's only my theory. maybe one, who built a race EFI engine could give me his practical recommedations?

What are your plans for your car? (Don't just bolt a BBK intake on it and call it a day). Heads and a cam will wake your motor up. Back to the intake quesion, I am a GT40 intake fan. I know it's old technology, but I have one on my car. I love popping the hood and seeing it there.

There are several available, probably the most popular being those from Edelbrock (as with carb intakes). Lots of info and experience on sites such as www.sbftech.com, especially as there are far more people there who both race and go fast, and have experience with what it takes to make a quick fuel-injected car actually work. Most of those guys are also running aftermarket heads, etc. (though there have been some very interesting experiments with factory GT40 heads involving big intakes and custom cams). FWIW, I haven't yet noticed much talk there about the BBK intake - the injected guys wanting someting fancy seem to gravitate toward a huge carb-type single plane with injector bosses.

Intakes are basically a compromise. you are, generally speaking, moving the torque/hp curve up or down. With that in mind, intake recommendations require knowledge of what you're going to do to the car. If you're keeping a stock torque converter and stock displacement, that requires a signficantly "smaller" intake than if you were trying to acheive the same goals with a 347 stroker and a 3000RPM stall torque converter.

I took mine to a point the factory ECM wouldnt handle it. Used a Victor EFI intake. The comple system is for sale. Its been modified.

You were reporting very good mileage with that Victor EFI and ported factory heads, right?

The Victor was getting just over 20 MPG. Possibly would have done a bit better with a lower gear. Power band realy started around 2500 and above. 3.55 gears were a bit to high but ok. 3.90 gears look to be about proper for my build street and strip. The Victor requires machining to fit most heads properly. Port is about .28 to high to match up with GT40 heads. Port opening dimensions are to big for E7 port opening.

for most street applications the gt40 style explorer intake is the way to go for efi, unlike its name sake cousin the gt40 tubular from the cobras, and the lightning the explorer goes up to 6k powerwise, however if your building a motor that revs that high, then a edelbrock is the way to go, buddy has one on a dd all motor stang with a six speed stick its very interesting.
