i was just wondering about how much extra hp will i gain with this swap. i can get them for about 150 or its not worth doing sorry im a noob when it comes to cars
The absolute first thing you need to do on any of these cars for power's sake is the exhaust. Dual H-or-X pipe gains you around 20 hp at the motor. They only had 150 hp from the factory.
,
Slicktop '91 GS HO 4.30 rear. '82 Mark VI Tudor HO, '90 F-150 XLT, '62 project Heep, '89 Arizona Waggin' and '88 donor in PA, getting combined.
It's not really as simple as just plopping it on...
But if you do? On a bone stock engine? Maybe 10 horsepower.. maybe.
In general, the intake is the third biggest restriction. Heads and exhaust (including the exhaust manifolds) should both really be upgraded before you see any worthwhile gains from an Explorer or Mustang intake.

so order like a mustang cat-less h pipe? if so where would a great place to order it from? how would a mustang short headers with the cat-less h pipe with flowmasters 40 series or glasspacks and a ho throttle body and egr spacers would that be an ok setup
Looks you havnt read the sticky yet ,but I would reccomend looking at a mustang board for your parts.
First two things exhuast and gears. To take advantage of the expo intake I reccomend gt40 expo heads or gt40p heads.
For headers bbk shorty 1515 headers they will fit expo heads .p version included.
Just a rec, comendation. Also 2.5 inch pipe works rather nicely.
Also any swap you do will require modding the throttlebody lever. The egr spacer can be bored,or an aftermarket one can be modded for fitment as well. The only other thing would be to find an elusive first gen lightning egr spacer.
Not to discurage but do read up a bit and ask lots of questions before attempting.
89 townie, mild exhuast up grades, soon to have loud ass stereo....

Shouldn't have to change lifters its a rollermotor as long as it hasn't been beat to hell and back you can use them just fine.
I would reccomend using an ho cam as the explorer seems finicky ,some swear by it and some like the ho I prefer the ho bumpstick myself.
You will need a mark vii ecm or a stang one. Once agin please read the sticky! There is also maf conversion on hbere too, although it is advised to get a maf wiring harness as it is more plug and play freindly. Oh if yhou ever plan on nitrous forged pistons are a must. Which is why I prefer a ho block.

No. Go find a box limo and steal the rear from that. It's most likely a 3.55 trac lok. Just rebuild it and install it.
As for the intake swap. On a lopo, I forsee an engine running ridiculously lean. Too much air.
Fyi every limo axle I've seen has the k code 3.55 andthey are also rumored to be 31 spline axles as well. I wuldnt doubt it the things are stupid heavy.
You can nix an explorer or ranger gearset as long as its an 8.8 and pay attention to the spline count too! if you find a donor box limo yank the wbole rear as well as the springs.
Choices from the trucks are 3.55,3.73, nd 4.10 ratios

they do have 31 spline axles. If you notice the axle tubes in a limo rear are a larger diameter than a civillian vic. Also, can't run disc brakes with a limo rear unless you do 98+ rear brakes. Due to diffferences in the backing plates. It is rumored that the Limo rears are truck rears with the panther hardware welded on (spring perches, control arm brackets etc.)
