306 made 400hp..would this work in a panther

    http://www.powerblocktv.com/episodes/HP2010-01

click on the link and tell me what you think .could that same build work in a box Panther because if so this is what I'm going to do to my 85 TC ..I would use a trickflow top end kit instead
This maybe how i make my 85 TC look>>....[SIGPIC/SIGPIC]

No reason why not. I agree with choosing trickflow heads instead, but yeah that's a pretty standard high-po 302 based build and should move you nicely. You'll probably want to pick a cam based on your combo though (or have a custom cam place like Bullet design one for you, it's not that much more).

Don't forget at least a higher stall converter behind it to take advantage. And a limited slip rear end if you don't have one already.

The cam they used is pretty aggressive for a 4500lb street car, so you'd probably end up with a more 'streetable' cam that makes a little less peak power, but the basic results would be similar.

85 4 door 351 Civi Crown Victoria - Summer daily driver, sleeper in the making, and wildly inappropriate autocross machine
160KMs 600cfm holley, shorty headers, 2.5" catted exhaust, 255/295 tires, cop shocks, cop swaybars, underdrive pulley, 2.73L gears.
waiting for install: 3.27's, Poly bushings, boxed rear arms, 2500 stall converter, ported e7's, etc

Yeah I'm still put ideas together but soon as I seen that I was locked in and for he read I'm think of an explorer rear end that's already 3.73. Gears and disc brake......unless I hear other wise on rear end options

what do you mean by "explorer rear end"? I'm pretty sure the gears inside the Explorer rear end won't swap over and I know that the Explorer rear end assembly as a whole (including case and such) will not swap without significant mods. It's an 8.8 of roughly the same width but the mounts and stuff are all different.

The gears are the only thing you can use, from an exploder. The carrier I belive is 31 spline. Could use it if you want to upgrade the axle shafts. Im sure he isent looking to use an exploder housing lol.

use a 92-97? rear axle if you want the disc upgrade... it's a bolt on. Otherwise, gears and bearings and have a nice day.

The only thing you'll want to consider about using a 400HP engine is also swapping in at least a HD built AOD (89+ housing using heavy duty parts... typical light truck AOD... or a panther/mustang AOD with the stronger parts. You can still run the two piece input shaft to keep the locked in 3-4 gears for mileage, though you'll probably want the hardened one. You really only need the one piece shaft if you go over 500HP IIRC
