'07 Mustang GT Rims

Question:

Does anybody happen to know if a set of 17" 2007 Mustang GT rims will fit (and fit CORRECTLY) on an '89 TC? I'm wondering if the offset would be right and if the tires would scrub or not, being wider......................

The reason I ask is I can get a SCREAMING deal on a set of complete rims and tires with like 20Km on them that were just taken off a brand new car because he's putting ROUSH rims on it. The car literally drove from the dealership to his shop on the stock rubber............

The new mustangs use 6.82" of backspace and +45mm offset. Panthers have 4.5" backspace and the offset varies. If you run some pretty big spacers (2in would be good) you can use em.

get em cheap and sell em for a profit. They fit 03+ panthers and newer mustangs. of course. And depending on the rim, it's an 03+ vic sport rim.

No, you use an adapter that bolts onto the stock studs and is a big chunk of billet aluminum...

Couldn't do that, its a hook-up through a buddy of mine, I wouldn't feel right going that route. I think they would look good on the TC and with less sidewall to flex, they'd improve handling even more on my CVPI suspension...........

you can get the same wheel in an backspacing that will fit your car...The 02 and earlier sport packages came wit hthe same wheel. User AOD has a set on his 2 door.

OK, now, if I go to Americanracing's website, and look up TC wheels, the wider the rim, the more backspacing (obviously) the wheel has.

Example:
Product Number: 61128566
Size: 20x8.5
Product Description: CHROME
Backside Spacing (in/mm): 5.75/146
Offset: 25mm


And for an '07 Mustang Rim:

Product Number: 935028567
Size: 20x8.5
Product Description: CHROME
Backside Spacing (in/mm): 6.125/156
Offset: 35mm

Going from THOSE specs, they don't look like they'd be THAT far off, and the additional back-spacing would make sure the wider tires don't scrub the lips of the wheel wells right? As long as they don't bottom-out on the frame going stop-to-stop........

Those aren't the exact same wheel, but quite similar.

yes, but the car might look dumb with the wheels tucked under the fenders that far. There is a possibility that you might also rub the frame going that far in specially when you turn the front wheels. You can get 2 in spacers on ebay for like a $120 tho.

:Edit: nevermind, 5.75 to 6.125 isnt much at all. I just reread your post above, another problem is that the on the front the wheels will not fit on the hub, the hubs on our cars are super long. You may need to run at least a 3/4 spacer on it so the rim bolts on all the way.

That's what I was worrying about, the increased wheel depth (and tire width) that could potentially cause scrubbing in the frame. I guess I could always take the car out and TRY one of them and see...........

The tires are 255's..........So a fair bit wider than the 215's that are on there, they'd be the same width as the BFG's I have on the back of the Capri.........

The problem is the front, it'll more than likely hit the upper control arm. If they will even clear the hubs.

The other wheels are the same, the finish is slightly different. Full polished vs. a polished/as cast.

You would need at least a 1.25" spacer. Nate has marauder wheels on his 85, and those have the same backspacing/offset as the mustang wheels. (IIRC)
