Don't sedan cargo coils even out the stance of the car, with new stock shocks?

I have a set of GR2s the front of my car, and all around on my S10. They're slightly stiffer than stock, but not a whole lot. They're a good shock with stock springs if you want to firm up the ride a bit without getting too stiff. The limo or police shocks are a bit stiffer than standard civvy ones. On my truck, they're not firm enough. The higher spring rate on the S10 needs something a bit stiffer up front. The kyb gas-a-just are the next firmer KYB offering. They work well with higher rate springs, and are pretty decent on the highway even with stockers. If you bang around a lot on shitty roads though you might get tired of them. Probably these are what I need on the front of the S10. The front end is a bit too bouncy for my liking.

Most of our cars are at least 20 years old so front end rebuild is a good idea, especially if installing heavy springs and shocks since stiff suspension increases the load on the bushings and ball joints.

Wow, that ought to be one killer setup! Be interesting to see how it turns out.

I'd expect most camber problems would just be due to poorly adjusted alignment, but changing the 20-year-old bushings really can't hurt if you're up to the task! Seems mrltd and others were putting together info on polyurethane bushing upgrades should you want to go that route instead of just getting new stock rubber stuff.

                      you really wanna upgrade?

Do the 98-02 brake conversion on the front, and make sure you run 16" or larger wheels...

Rebuild the suspension while you're at it. As far as the camber issue, I would take it to an alignment shop and ask them to check it out.

Camber wear is a sign of shot bushings, get the poly's and do everything in one shot.

I can't speak from experience, but Blaze, mrltd, and MeLikeyStripperChicks all seem pretty happy with their front springs of 925, 1000, and 1050 lb/in, respectively. I've thought of ordering a set of 1300 lb/in coils, in part because mrltd was at one point thinking of going stiffer, plus he said that rate doesn't sell well for some reason and is usually on sale for maybe $15 each. Especially if you can get a good deal like that, maybe something like that would be a good compromise rate so you can see if you like it without spending a fortune?

One thing to consider when talking about a vehicle's "ride", what seats are you running? Stock Crown Vic (and Towncar and Grand Marq too) seats are pretty soft, so whatever springs you install in the suspension their stiffness will be partially canceled by the seats, as far as the butt feeling is concerned. I no longer have the stock seats in my Townie, they have been replaced with a pair of buckets off a 2000 Dodge Neon SXT (the more sporty version of the Neon), so I've lost lots of the butt comfort, when I say I can feel every crack on the road it's not too far from the truth with these seats. However, you can replace yer Crown Vic seats with a pair off a Town Car Signature Series or Cartier, those are so soft and comfy you can fall asleep in them while flying down a dirt road - this way you still get the sport compact handling of the car, and yer butt still enjoys a half-way decently comfortable ride. Oh, and by the way, with my stiff springs and the SXT seats I have driven for like 7-8 hours straight down a mix of dirt and paved roads and I never felt the need to stop and get out for a stretch or something.

That sounds pretty neat. Personally, I've found that in some cases it's the wallowing ride that sends me searching for a rest stop to calm my nerves a bit. Then again, maybe it's the lunatic drivers I encounter whenever I drive past Fort Wayne. :p
