    DIY way to remove this..

    these hubcap locks are annoying.... I dont have the key but I need to remove the tire.

    I know mcguard has the key I just need to find the right part number. Its in the paperwork somewhere. But in the mean time is there a tool or a "hack" I can use to remove them.

        I agree, vice grips. Needlenose vicegrips if possible

            vice grips will NOT work on these. the tops are angled about 45 degrees and slightly recessed in the cap. you would need some tiny needle nose to even try that way. c-clip pliars may work. I'd get my dremel and a cutting wheel and make a groove in the top for a flat screwdriver to be used to get it free.

              find a 12-point socket that is a little too small and force it on with a hammer

                weld a nut on there and spin it off with an impact or breaker bar is easiest way to get them off

                  find a tire shop. they have specialty sockets designed for removing these things. Failing that, use a grinder of some fashion to make a slot for a screwdriver.

                    That's probably the easiest way its just a bolt with a funky head, but I'd really wait and get a new key. Locking hub caps are really handy. Fly over to Cali and I'd let you borrow mine. :p

                            I've used an air chisel to loosen them off to the point that vise grips will werk.
