I found out where my trans fluid leak is coming from. I could see it trickling off of the bottom of the U-Joint so I know it's not the tailshaft seal. Gadget suggested that it could be the O Ring and I wanted to see if anyone else knew as well. I read about a few different versions of people having this issue so I'm looking for some clarification. Some people made it sound as if the O Ring is in the tailhousing. Some suggested there is a vent hole in the backside of the slipyoke that only leaks if the O Ring in the tailhousing goes bad. Others suggested there is a "freeze plug" of some sort in the slipyoke. Whatever the case may be I'm hoping to fix it so if anyone can give me an idea where to buy the part and how to replace it I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

This could be a situation where you just take it to the transmission shop and have them deal with it.
Seriously, people are so fuckin' scared of needing a $$$$ complete transmission rebuild $$$$ that they won't take the goddamn thing in to have it looked at and get a comparatively cheap repair done. It could be a $60-120 job, or you could have them at least tell you what part it is for a diagnostic fee, and maybe even order it through them if it's something you want to tackle yourself.

I'm not afraid to bring it to a trans shop. I'm too broke to bring it to a trans shop! It's probably a $5 repair that I can do with my eyes closed. That's what these forums are for. Learning to repair your car yourself.

I've never taken any vehicle to a transmission shop that wasn't diagnosed with needing a total rebuild. At least one of those vehicles went 6 more years before dying.
There are good places out there, I used to know one in Broken Arrow, OK that did fantastic work. Just keep in mind that asking most transmission shops if your transmission ought to be rebuilt is like asking a dog if it's hungry. The answer is almost always "yes". Contact some of your local car guys and see who they recommend first.Owner of the only known 5 speed box wagon with a lift kit.

Does the slip yoke have a hole in the center of it? If it does you have to find a way to plug the hole so it won't leak. T5 yokes don't have a hole in the center.Matt

Good question. It very well may have a hole, but I am suspecting that Gadget's suggestion about an O-ring is probably on to something as well. I'll look . Thanks.
