For what it's worth, I had to adjust the height on my 90 Crown Vic. Last year my friends kept saying that it looked as if the car was sagging on the right rear side. Finally this January I brought the car to Hewitt Alignment in Stockton, a shop that I've been going to for over 30 years. I asked them to measure the ride height, and for good measure, I asked them to replace the power steering gear box (after nearly 425,000 miles and a relatively new p.s. pump, the steering was still too heavy in parking and low-speed turns). They diagnosed the height problem; both right front and right rear were 1 inch too low when compared to the left side.
They tried new cargo springs in the rear to fix the sagging problem. No change in ride height! So, what they did was use shims on the old right rear spring and spacers on the right front springs. Now the car is at correct ride height on the left and right side.
They pulled off the old p.s. gear box, flushed the p.s. system, installed a rebuilt gear box, and added in new p.s. fluid. With the new p.s. gear box, turning the steering wheel on the car is much easier.
Gotta install a p.s. cooler and filter on the system,
Robert Bernardo
