I've seen bellhousings from lakewood that allow you to use GM transmissions on a SBF. I was thinking F-body camaros had 6 speeds from the factory from the mid 90's+. It cant be too hard to find a decent t56 used from the yard or ebay inexpensively. I think a t56 would be alot better than a t5, not only are they stronger, but they have an extra gear. Anybody know the power limit of one of these trannys? It think it would be a pretty worthwhile swap. I'm interested to hear you guy's opinions on it. No "chevy parts in a ford" arguements here please.

the GM T56s use different input shafts then ford trannys. so you might not be able to find a clutch with the right splines and the right bolt pattern. Also A T56 does not nescillary use the same bellhousing as other trannys. The T56 for the 03-04 cobras is basically a ring. you can change a clutch without removing the bellhousing.
Best bet would be to get a T-56 out of a 03-04 cobra, or buy one built for fords.http://secondhandracing.com/Home.aspx

Its for a ford 5.0. The camaro t56 uses an 11in clutch, 26 spline input with a 1 1/8 diameter input. It has all the right specs. I'm not sure if its gonna work tho.

I guess that one was a custom TKO setup for a 5.0. IIRC doesnt the t56 and tko have some kind of simmilarity?

I was mainly looking at the possibility of getting a used camaro 6 speed that would be alot cheaper than a spanking new one. Unfortunetly they use a 1.125 diam input with 26 splines.
If this clutch http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
works and if I can find a bell that would adapt it on, I could run a six speed for just a lil more than a t5 and not worry about shredding the trans as much

I wonder if you could change input shafts?
