    Slight shuffle when slowing down?

    On my 85 when I slow down from 65 to 30 coming into town, is seems so have a slight shudder it before it decides to downshift. I can manually shift from OD to D and it’s fairly smooth. The way I have the TV rod adjusted at the moment it goes:
    1-2 around 20mph
    2-3 around 30mph
    3-OD around 50mph

    do I need to mess with my adjustment some more?

    I wouldn't necessarily change anything. They are clunky coming out of OD and back into drive with no load.

    Your pressure may be a bit high but I would much rather run that way than low.

      Agree with above, possibly tweaking it will help, but maybe not. The AOD just isn't known for awesome shift feel.

        they tend to neutral out when slowing down and won't re-engage to even downshift until you touch the gas again. There's a reason they're called slushboxes. I had a Transgo shift kit put in the 88 I had when I did the rebuild and wide ratio gears and that made things much better. (The wide ratio gears made the 2-3 weird though... it was fun, but you have to learn to live with the weirdness. If I had it to do over again, that car would have kept the regular gears and my 93 would have the wide ratio gears or a 4r70w instead.)

          the Transgo kit definitely fixes a lot of ills
