I have a quick question thats sorted of related you might be able to help me with. I have the 134a conversion done. New compressor, evaporator, accumulator, lines, and its properly charged and holding. The thing is, if you turn the A/C on, the compressor will only come on it you fiddle with A/C WOT relay (unplug-replug halfway kinda). Jumping the clutch cycling switch didn't work, the old relay was tested and worked but it still did it when swapped with another spare A/C relay, a brand new one, and the connector for it was replaced as well. Is there a another sensor I'm missing for the A/C system that might cause the relay to get power. The car's not showing codes and the TPS is new and I thought that relay only got power at 80% throttle. Thanks in advance.sigpic

the WOT cutout relay shouldn't get any power to it's smaller connectors when the AC is operating. The relay is powered by the ECM at 7/8 throttle to cut the AC out. Sounds like its being triggered improperly, maybe a bad TPS or something.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Yep, I replaced the harness, used the old relay, a spare, and then a brand new one. I think I might redo the soldering at the connector and see if that helps any. I know the wires are in the correct spots as I swapped em one by one but that'd never hurt to double check. I was just hoping there was a low oil/pressure switch for the A/C I might have been missing. These relays are definitely being a pain these days, the cover for the other one accidentally went upside under the closed hood but took water during a heavy rain and shorted/fried the fuel pump relay which I thought killed the fuel pump because it was running and running til the battery died. My Dad and I tested fuel pressure at the rail and what we thought was the relay which tested good so I now have a brand new Bosch fuel pump when it was just a bad relay. The problem was I replaced both connectors but they only had the green plug ones so it was just a dumb mistake, but I've got a very quite fuel pump and working spare now. ahhLast edited by 86GmLsCoupe; 07-18-2008, 11:24 PM.sigpic

I've had the AC working some here and there. The problem is the relay itself, everything works fine otherwise. The problem I'm having is getting the proper relay for it to keep working. I have two Standard Motor RY68 relays but they have 3 little pins and two larger ones. With them I can't get the AC back on. I popped in a ford E5----- relay and has three small pins and one larger pin and it worked but it burnt out, and the other E5---- spare would probably do the same if I keep kept using it. I'm gonna keep looking for a Ford one in the yard but in the end I may end up just having to wire in a Bosch one. Does anyone have the part number for the A/C WOT relay I need (oem or aftermarket), I been through so many I lost track of what was in there to start with. Also does anyone have a diagram for the relay, I can't seem to find the info in my EVTM, Helm/Ford, or Haynes books. Thanks again.sigpic
