    Design Flaw

A friend complained her wipers would stop accasionally, so I took a look and found the problem.

When the dipstick is inserted one way it rubs against the plug for the wiper motor.

    Anyone else see this?

That looks like a 90/91 style, they got a different wiper motor, I think the same as the early aeros. They used to like to park perpendicular to the windshield lol.

I think the whole wiper assembly is a design flaw. I was very disappointed to look under the hood of Nate's '01 and see that the stupid thing is still there in the same stupid place they put it back in the '79 model year, only with the Mod motor it's even more impossible to get the valve covers off with the wiper linkage assembly in place.

Did you try just bending the dipstick tube away from the wiper motor?

The wipers seem to be a little bleh in these cars. I can feel them moving in the pedals when they are on. I used to have problems with them clearing so after trying a few different blades I got a new wiper transmission, but the vibration and noise they make when parking makes me think the motor is getting tired. I'll have to check that spot on mine to see what it looks like. Most annoying thing is I've have the tab on the passenger side break three times.

I think CFI is a design flaw. As are the headlight switches. And the electrical engineers' brains at Ford seem to have several design flaws.

The wiper system is a bit meh on these things, but its not that different than a lot of other cars. At least the transmission and motor is accessible.
