Correct door look for 89 CP?

    Dear Panthers,

The NOS Crown Vic electric lock I found on EBay 5823120MO12DL doesn't fit. Anybody know where I can get the right one -preferably NOS?

Are you talking about the switch or lock actuator?? There is a guy, on EBAY from Deerfield Beach Florida, selling the actuators for around $50 (OEM).

The actuators are all basically identical, only the rod itself is different. There are generally two, one with an L shaped end, the other with a Z shaped end. No idea which yours uses, but I think you can convert one to the other if you change the little plastic bushing in the lock assembly where the rod goes through. The L shaped one uses a bushing with a latching finger on it, the Z end just uses a plastic donut sort of deal. The L rod is much easier to deal with too.

The other thing you can do is change the rod from one motor to the other. Pull the rubber boot off, and there is a clip that holds a cup on the shaft. Pop the clip off, and carefully lift off the cup. Catch the 3 balls that fall out, and slide the rod out. Reverse to install, etc etc. I do not suspect this works properly if you currently have a non-OEM lock motor though.
