Check it for codes. Never know what it may be wanting to tell you. My dad's '91 did that. Turns out, the pick up in the dizzy went bad. It had a code stored that stated that.1990 MGM: $50 E7 heads, HO cam, Holley SysteMAX lower intake, HO upper intake with an Explorer TB. LSC ECM. Lincoln logs into stock dual exhaust. K&N drop in air filter. Wide ratio AOD, 2400 converter with a 3.08 one tire fire out back. Car is less slow now. Then there's the '92 Beater. Dual 2.25" exhaust with shiny tips. Rumbles nice. Super slow. Burns oil too.

also, check the inertia switch in the trunk to make sure it hasn't crapped out or popped. Push the button to see... if it's popped up and it clicks down, try starting it again.

Without any diagnostic work, it could be anything. My vote is on the U-239 Space Modulator Valve has failed in a counterclockwise fluxtion. This is clearly incorrect, and it must operate with a clockwise fluxion.
Or maybe find out of it has spark and/or fuel. That would tell you where to start looking. Pretty fair chance its a TFI.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Hello,
I'm kind of still in a similar situation. I have not been able to do anything on the GM because of work. I do have a new TFI along with a remote location kit for it. I am about to replace the connector at the coil with anew connector. Next will be to replace both alternator connectors.
Can I just plug the new TFI into the wiring harness, without it being mounted and check for spark?
I prefer to not remove the distributor to mount the new TFI.
Can I mark the position of the distributor, then turn the distributor so I can get to the other screw holding the TFI in?
One screw for the TFI module is easy to get at. The other has the thermostat housing in the way of the TFI wrench. I bought the TFI wrench at NAPA. They have the on sale for under $3.00.
I have sprayed starting fluid into the TB. Nothing changes. The motor turns over, but does not attempt to start.
Am I correct in assuming it is spark related and not fuel related?
Thank you guys again.
I apologize if I have attempted to hijack the post.90 Colony Park LS with GT 40 heads and intake. HO cam, 65 MM TB, 67 MM EGR spacer. Has a 75 MM Pro Flow mass air sensor. Borla XS mufflers. 3L55. Shift kit, 2000 stall Tq convertor...Bilstein shocks, front and rear sway bars.

use the THERMAL grease provided between the TFI and the dizzy. dielectric grease will not work for that purpose.

The TFI must be installed for it to work. THe output of the pickup feeds into the 3 blades on the top of the TFI. With no connection, you get no spark. +1 on thermal grease too.
I've tried to do TFI modules without removing the distributor. The last time (well, only time) I spent probably 30 minutes trying to get it out before giving up, marking the positions of things, and then just popping the distributor out. Takes less time to mark and remove than fight it.
If you are removing the distributor, replace the O ring on it. It will be petrified, and when you disturb it it will start leaking oil around the base of the distributor.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

dielectric grease is for connectors to help lube them up and keep the connections happy.
