The tail lights, on my '93 GM have areas of "whiteness". Not sure if they have oxidized in the hot Florida sun or if there is another issue. I could try a compound or a lighter version like Meguiars Plastic Cleaner/Polish (PlastX) but wanted to know if there are any other better suggestions. Let me know.....

Will check it out and thanks for the tips!Originally posted by DerekTheGreat View PostI've used the scratch remover type stuff from Meguire's with good results. For an even better result, wet sand them with 1,000 grit and then 2,000 grit before polishing them out. They'll look like new when you're done. What I Own: 1993 Mercury Grand Marquis GS

If the UV burn is bad enough, the red tint will be gone from the plastic. If that's the case and it's not just the plastic surface damage, polishing will just help you see the white.
Also, when done, apply some UV blocker like the Sylvania Headlight Restoration UV protectant (or similar product). https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KIVYE6G/
And I'd repeat the application of the UV blocking coat 2-3 times.

Good point! I will try the polish first and then the sanding, if necessary. If no joy after all that, I may have to live with them being damaged. By the way, there is a guy in Saudi Arabis, that is selling one tail light (the right one) for $360 plus $50 to ship! I would have to replace both sides and the middle so at those types of prices I can CERTAINLY live with it! Besides, even allowing for the lunacy, I do not see a left or center assembly that are better than mine.Originally posted by sly View PostIf the UV burn is bad enough, the red tint will be gone from the plastic. The two tail lights do look nice. Wonder if and how to clean up the stripes? Have some medical issues but as soon as I can I am going to see how well I can clean up the ones I have. I will DEFINEATELY keep yours in mind if I fail! The price is agreeable! What I Own: 1993 Mercury Grand Marquis GS
