The best I've ever owned are made by Covercraft and made with a material called WeatherShield. This material is only one layer of a very smooth material but it sheds water like a good wax job, breaths and doesn't let dust or dirt through. It flat out does the job you want an outdoor cover to do.
I've used these covers on a '79 Granada, '90 Vette and a '00 Mustang convertible. All were show cars and sat outside 24/7 thru rain, ice, snow, etc. Even the black Vette came out after 3 months of winter clean and ready to go with only a California Duster and detail spray. These covers are expensive ($300 or so) but if you want max protection from a cover they are worth it.
Here's a link to WeatherShield ( http://www.covercraft.com/weathershield.htm ) and they are available online from most cover vendors. I got mine from BigSky car covers (https://www.bigskycarcovers.com/ ).

That's funny, I know of a company called Big Sky too, Big Sky Motorsports, aka the people who will be building me a rollbar for my Townie car in the spring
