88 grand marq tails in a 87 gmq

i recently got a set of smooth tail lights out of an 88 grand marq in a trade of parts and i want to put them in my 87. im wondering how much work it is to put them in. it looks like all the mounting bolts are in different locations. any help would be helpfull. thanks

well someone done that already but not sure on the work involved. BBUB did the 88 rear conversion but dont see him around anymore.

Most of the studs line up, the holes for the light sockets need to be modified for the newer tails. My main issue was making a trim piece from the bottom of the bumper to the lisc plate.

IIRC, the license plate holder should swap over as well so the trim will match up.

You need the trunk I think.

im not sure if the trunk is needed, i changed the trunk on my 86 to a 91 long before i changed the tail lights and corner pieces (trunk had holes from thieves). the newer trunk lid has a different chrome trim along the bottom but there werent any clearance/alignment issues for me. i didnt even use the center section doesnt look that bad though. (not as bad as the shitty tint job i did in my youth lol)
