how come I can't find good old fashioned WAX anymore?

just plain old yellow carnauba wax.

    IT DOES NOT EXIST APPARENTLY.

everything's all green and funny colored and runny or a liquid or spray or cleaning wax.

direct me in the proper... direction?

    Of course it does.

You need to find Meguiar's #26 Yellow Carnuba Wax. You can get it in liquid or paste form, but the paste holds up better.

You may have to buy it online, but thats no big deal.

20 at most shipped? You are going to get a few uses out of it...

I paid the same at the local Napa, but it is worth it. It had been a long time since I saw 26 in paste form, so I bought it. I like it better than the liquid, although it doesn't smell as nice. I personally use the paste twice a year, and use the liquid cleaner wax from Meguiar's in between the paste waxings. The liquid cleaner wax comes off easy, so I don't feel like Popeye after waxing the car.

I use a wax by Collinite 885. It is expensive but you dont need to use much. The shine lasts for close to a year if you wash it with auto wash that dosent remove wax. It is a white wax realy fairly clear when applyed it dosent turn the paint yellow as yellow canaba waxes do. White canaba wax is the best but verry costly. I think a pure once or 2 of it is like 200 to 300 dollars

Collinite Fleet wax a paste. It was developed for aircraft use.
In a test against just about every wax you can think of or see on the shef at a auto store. It was the only wax that had a excellent shine after 6 months. Meguires and mothers held an excellent rating for only 1 month. Poor by 3 months. Most others didnt even have a good rating after a month.
            Colliniite

It is not a cleaner wax for a cleaner wax I use Zymol blue.

One of the best waxes I have ever used is 3m Perfect-it Paste Wax. Gives great protection, shine, UV filter, durability, repels dust, and costs lest than $20 and it don't smell to bad neither. Here's a review of it http://classic-motoring.stores.yahoo...showcarpa.html

You can buy Meguiars #26 at any auto parts store... I know we carry it at AutoZone.

TurtleWax F21 (Formula 21) is yellow wax too.

Personally I just use Meguiars NXT though... best wax I've used so far. Definately worth the money.

i got one of them orbital buffer thingies(35$ at Canadian tire) and a towel for all the tight spots afterward, it really speeds things up and does a wicked job,i would recomend getting one, or two, so you can use one for applying and one for buffing without switching the thing after you do every 1/4 part of the car.

i noticed no one has talked about it yet? am i missing something? is something wrong with orbital polishers?

I use a buffer once a year; using it more often than that wears through the paint faster. I use it once in the spring, and do hand polishing/ waxing the rest of the time.

I second the collonites. That stuff is amazing. Their metal wax is amazing on chrome and aluminum.

Really, I think there are more good brands than just Meguiar's; that just happens to be my favorite. 3M is known for quality, and I have seen Collonite at my local auto body supply house, and have heard that it does indeed last a long time.

I do not like Turtle products, or Mother's products, except for the aluminum polish... but Meguiar's and 3M, etc also make good metal polishes.
