I know the dark colors are killer, but i think a tan color on top of my car would look like a head of a person driving down the street. Thats just the vision i get of a dark body color with a light vinyl top color.

Yea it may crack earlier and may, wait...will bake the shit out of my interior i am really feeling a black vinyl top and black painted roof, with the rest of the car dark metallic brown. Would be freakin awesome. i am so feeling that idea.

haha, ur having the same problems i was...
i was thinking of having a black top on mine too haha

i didnt just because of the cost that it would have took...around here it was like atleast $500 to get the top re-done...
so i just went the cheaper but more time consuming route and did the slick-top conversion haha

but a 2 tone metallic brown/gloss black tudor....

Is it brown you're never supposed to do black with, or blue? Either way, not sure a black top would look right on a brown car. I'd probably be going some shade of brown so it jives.

If you go slicktop aren't there a lot of chrome pieces you have to hunt down and then change out because they're different?

the black top looks sweet and the idea you have for the black hood and truck i like as well...how much are they charging you to re-do the top?

I got quoted 3 hundo. but i will have the guy that is doing the body work do the top. I too like the hood and trunk black, but i got a little carried away. The guy thats doing the work is basically doing everything for free so i dont want to take advantage, but i will compromise for a sweet black vinyl top and the rest of the roof INCLUDING the door frame (above the dew wipe) to be painted nice gloss black. Give a real hot rod look. Should be real mean looking.

And as far as finding chrome pieces to go slick, not that i knew. I thought you just remove everything and fill all the holes smooth. But i never did do a slick top conversion spo i am not sure.

I'd do a slicktop, but that's just me.

If not a slicktop, you could use black canvas stuff and do the full top in it, leaving the "Crown" moulding if you like. I wouldn't do half the roof in vinyl, and half the roof in black paint while the car was brown, though. Just my personal taste.

As far as vinyl goes, I like Coach Roof cars, in both Half and Full top form. The smaller the rear window the better. Anything else gets slicktopped with me. I'm gonna slicktop my Merc and delete all the trim, and I think it will be pretty sweet looking, and unique, since so few of them came from the factory that way.

I liked the black top, same idea as my black top on GMQ along with dark grey paint. I liked oppose colours.
