You can just replace with the proper hose while you're in there.

There is a way to put the later pipe in there by pulling the water pump and replacing the water pump intake nipple with the PI engine nipple. It's part of the PI intake swap how to:

Then you won't have to mess with that (most likely) for well over a decade if at all.
