Started life as a custom-order Country Squire shipped to MFT Professional Vehicles here in PA and converted for use as a hearse. Full rear deck conversions were rare with these cars, most just got a fold-flat seat and vinyl roof for "first call" (pickup) duties. This one, however, recieved a complete bier table with rollers, vinyl top with landau bars, and coach lamps behind the rear windows. I don't know much about the history of the car beyond the previous owner, who was in a local hard rock band called Jacob's Ladder. He moved to Philly and could only take 1 car with him, so he sold the hearse to me for $450! Granted, it needed a bit of motor work and the rear interior was gutted, but for less than $500, what do you expect? Anyway, I've got a little work done to her, including a homemade cold air kit with a K&N filter, a 2.25" glasspack muffler, and a Sony Xplod reciever and 6x9 speakers. Next will be a set of Cragar SS wheels and some BFG rubber, hood scoop, and maybe some side pipes. There are a couple of pics attatched, check 'em out!and btw,

It's good to have you here. I'm pretty sure you're our first hearse as Gadget said. It looks great. Got any plans to build up the motor/ drivetrain?

welcome to GMN!
I bought a hearse very similar to your car (85 mgm) a few years back, but it had too much wrong with it and I never put it on the road.
About your car being stripped, in the rear, you'll be glad to know, that it would be an easy resto for you. Mine basically had a piece of cabinet grade plywood with dark stain on it, and of course the rollers. The hinge was in an odd place though. It was halfway over the fold up seating compartment. (no seats of course)
The plywood is about 30$ at lowes, and they will even cut it for you.
I am not sure about the rollers, but I have run across them on ebay a few times.
One last thing, the very back edge of the plywood was finished with a flexable metal strip like they used to put on kitchen countertops in the 50's. They just tacked it on with some small screws in the pre drilled holes.
Now for a couple things about your car, that I bet you didn't know.
The rear side windows are still in place. They have a piece of steel riveted over them on the outside, and headliner material on the inside of the glass.
Also there are no holes drilled in the roof for a luggage rack.
Might I suggest some wide whitewalls on chrome smoothies?Owner of the only known 5 speed box wagon with a lift kit.

Nice car! I have a 90 Grand Marquis "First call" hearse. Its black with blacked out windows. The car came from a Funeral home/Chinese restaurant! The owner either delivered food or picked up bodies! Let me know if you need any parts, I've been parting/fixing wagons for years. WagonMan89 Colony Park

If your ever in FL Look me up. I've always wanted to get a hearse and cruise around all the nursing homes, just circling the parking lot.
If I had that beauty, I would get a futon mattress, and throw it in the back, put a kickass sound system in with either a remote control or a head unit in the back, black light and some UV-on black velvet art work, a nice heavy black velvet curtain betwwen the back and the front seats... Turn it into a D-LUX shaggin waggin.Straight sixes make me randy...:smirk:
1992 Ford Tempo GLS 2 door.
