Today I picked up a disc brake rear diff.

It was the cheapest one I could find around here. It's missing the calipers and one rotor but it's got all the E-brake hardware and main mounting brackets. It cost me $150.00. The next cheapest one was $500.00 with no calipers and the rest were $700+. I got this one cheap because the diff itself is junk. But that's what I wanted I just need the brake parts off it.

I cut the crappy grille gaurd off the fron bumper, I think it looks much better now.

    After:

I also started cutting the body up on the 78.

Oh yea one other change in plans too. I'm not going to use the ugly ass utility box. I decided to go with the stock stepside box and just get a couple 5th wheel tool boxes for the box.

Here's a pic of the box before I pulled it off the 54 frame.

But I am going to have to lengthen the box almost 2 feet. But it should still look a hell of alot better then the utility box would.

Have fun stretching that bed On a different note, I just saw a shortbed stepside late-'70s Ford truck for sale, which is ridiculously rare to fin, especially in good shape.
