Yeah I couldn’t comfortably daily drive this as I have way to much time etc into it to let it just go to waste/ get destroyed in the road.

Maybe if I had more than one though I could then enjoy the other. Who knows. Someday…….


anyways took the car out to SF25 this past weekend. Met up with Scott, Thain and John. Good seeing you guys.


Car made it there and back without issue.

Proved to be more reliable then the Mercedes as the morning I left it threw a fit at me which required me to cut my SF25 trip short so I could get it up and running again for the work week. (Threw the Visit MB workshop dash warning light at me ...turned out it needed a new alternator).

anyways…

I just left home Friday morning after it was sitting for the last two weeks without checking anything over and I had no concerns.

Very happy with what I had built and what others have helped me build over all these years here on the forum.

trip was roughly 150ish miles each way and car ( with many repeated rompings on the highways) got around 21 mpgs. Cant complain. Also nice having cruise control for those longer stretches of road without exiting. Creature comforts, that and nice cold AC. Good road trip car for sure.

Yeah, especially with all the extra ponies it's got at your disposal. Great looking car. I know how you feel about the road destroying it, and I suffer from the same condition. Although I am slowly trying to cure myself of it. As each year goes on and I realize my own mortality and that I've already outlived some of my peers, one of those sayings I've heard forever is finally starting to get through to me: "You can't take it with you." Which begs the question, what the hell am I doing keeping everything mothballed in the garage for? Enjoy the shit before the opportunity is no longer yours to make. The next guy who gets it probably won't care half as much as you did anyway... Food for thought.

Yes! Lopo motor or not. The manual transmission will wake up the car like nothing else. So much fun.

The AOD eats like 30 hp or something. More than a few stock lopo dyno sheets in the 120-130 RWHP range. Its also a heavy lump, so there is that power to weight thing. Google says 150 lb for the AOD and like 75 for a T5.

Been a bit since I drove out to Montauk point so on a whim I decided to go there this morning.

nice 225 mile 4 hour trip in total.

snapped a few cool pics in the dark. I thought seeing all of those stars in the sky was so damn cool. Don’t quite see that here closer to the city.

plans involve just starting it every couple weeks. No projects in line for this car.

Purchased a new dipstick from lmr for the car. The previous one I had installed was a chrome looking handle unit that I had painted back in 2015/2016 and was looking tired. Went for a stock type looking one this time. Hopefully their factory coating will last longer than my scuff and shoot engine bay paint did.





same exact length and markings.







also repaired a torn seat belt sleeve. Back side was plastic welded then had mesh melted into the repair. Tacked a couple spots on the front side just to hold it together some more. Cannot see it from inside the car and installed at all. I am pleased.
