as long as it's the inner fender you've got that big mess bolted to so it doesn't short. The only thing I would advise would be coating the exposed bolt on the tire side of the inner fender in sealer, or otherwise cover it, to prevent tire shop monkeys from shorting something accidentally.

yeah it's just running through the plastic. it's not really that much of a mess - better than the stock setup, for sure. the only trouble on that fender is the bunch of fusible links that i need to do away with, then tuck everything together in some nice convoluted tubing.

a package arrived in the mail today from 4door containing an electric oil pressure sender and the extension to use it on our blocks. What a guy! Jeff, you're the best kind of people.

I'm going to install the sender when I'm under there changing the oil today, and I'll probably run the wire for it while I wait for the oil to drain. What's the easiest hole in the firewall for me to access?

For sure. He gave me the extension piece off of a motor that was gonna go into a car. It's a nice Ford blue!

Easy? None as far as I am aware. There is one I have used multiple times though..While standing next to the drivers side hood hinge look over to the firewall and there should be a rubber plug near the booster. The hard part is fishing the wire out from under the dash because that hole is really tucked up under the dash.

my car thanks you. I'm gonna run the tach wire through there cause I don't like having it going through the door jamb. it works fine there but meh...why leave it like that when i can fix it

Your car is a couple of years newer but hopefully you have the plug there. It will be a bitch to do though as the hole under the dash is so tucked up against the firewall. Definitely need a coat hanger or a flashlight and a long arm to do this.

Feeding tach wires isn't that bad when you run them from the outside of the firewall - and I'm fat with short arms. I usually put a slit in the big rubber plugs so I can tuck the wire in to where it isn't chafing on the sheetmetal.


Dave: How do you "attaché" a wire? I had the weird notion that "attaché" was always a noun, and that an attaché was a person or a carrying case.

this! I finish up the job by putting some RTV on the wire/grommet hole to seal things up.
