I always did like the dual snorkel air cleaners.

I can't remember if it was on GMN or somewhere else, but someone had used plastic air intake duct and brought each opening down next to the radiator for colder air. Looked good.

I think you're thinking of Pesty (and one of the Bowmans). They used a mid 80s Mustang air cleaner, and it looks so badass that I have one sitting in my basement waiting to go on.

just to add to that and get the thread back on track,

the way that it's done on this markVI is the cheaper way to do it and though it's a couple pounds heavier (a lot of the mustang piece is aluminum) and takes more times the results are pretty similar. A mustang air cleaner has the neato polished aluminum lid and is generally cleaner looking, but the snorkels need to be modified to fit the factory AC and repairable one will run you north of 100 bucks.

My air cleaner is aluminum with metal snorkles. aluminum air cleaner was stock on the early 80s lincolns. its actualy polished but for some reason it looks painted silver in my pic.

Bowman85merc used a truck air cleaner of some sort that he said was taller than a normal 302 air cleaner. I was never able to verify exactly what it came off of, so I'm guessing it must have been a lucky find at the pick-your-part.

I've never found the exact application, but the decal I got (5.8 4V HO or something, for the air cleaner) was from an 80s truck.

Yep, That was me, took said air cleaner, cut off factory snorkel, welded two 3" pipes on either side, ran the ducting from air cleaner to some snorkel type things on either side of the radiator, and its been sucking up bugs/birds/small children ever since.

The air cleaner came on 80-86 F-series trucks, and some vans that came with the 5.8 4V H.O., Its slightly taller than other air cleaners, but same diameter as 5.0 H.O. dual snorkel air cleaners as far as I know. They are decentley hard to find, and harder to find with the lettering intact.

                Keep up the work btw.

http://catalog.osborn-reproduction.c...224&offset=120 this isn't where I bought mine, but it shows you can get the decals fairly cheap. mine was 12 bucks shipped.

So I wouldn't worry TOO much about getting one with the decal intact.

do you still need a color keyed strip for the back bumper. harry's u pull it in west hazleton, pa has a 1981 mark vi signature series in your same color with a good strip. dont know when the next time i will be going down though.

So far I got the '69 4 bbl intake along with a 4300 motorcraft carb. and some new intake gaskets.
I had to fool around with the TV rod a bit but is now shifting properly. Still need to finish setting up the carb and timming. Here are some pics. (Mind the blue underside of the air cleaner. Ran out of burgundy paint.)

How come your not using pcv?
