That's annoying. I'd rather have to do the 1-d-1 shuffle sometimes than have to install a separate switch for OD lockout.

Good plan, if you like prematurely cooked transmissions! (or so I'm told)

I drove an '08 F-150 with the pushbutton OD, and found it to be heaps and oodles better than the AOD shift pattern. And besides, I feel that any valvebody that allows me to both lock out Overdrive AND manually select Second, is a Very Good Thing.

Mike: So all the non-solenoid aftermarket VBs just have no OD lockout, is that the deal?

With the OD lockup you get a true manual 2nd gear. No worrying about it downshifting to 1st when you don't want it to. Though, it all depends on the type of driving/racing you do.

If you tow, having that button / switch is real handy. No risk of overshooting the D position, just tap the button as needed. Also the proper second gear with no risk of premature trans failure is a nice bonus. If you had a slap shifter, its impossible to shuffle an AOD, so such a valve body is mandatory for effective use of that kind of shifter.

I don't think all aftermarket valve bodies do the electric OD lockout, but those do exist. Honestly I'd rather Ford just designed the damn thing to have one more detent in the first place. If you've ever driven a GM product with a 200R4 or 700R4, they have a full range of gear positions.

700R4 FTW! that 85 Pontiac Parisienne I had for a while was great to drive like an ass. The engine was beat though (needed a carb rebuild bad).

All companies mentioned have the option of OD lockout.

Actually yes. I am planning a new build for my 87 this summer, a more realistic build because I would love to have it done by fall and GT40P's are on my list. How much????

Well, I kind of abandoned the head swap.

But I was thinking $500 with the 1.7RRs.

If I could get $500 for them, I'd go ahead and order some TW 170s.

any idea when you would be dealing with suspension?

                          Probably not this year.

You're wondering about the springs, aren't you?

I want to drive the car a little bit with the ones in there. If I decide its ok, they may stay. But I may go with something much milder to help with weight transfer.

Those springs ride beautifully. I was very satisfied.
