The Sand Box, Jan. 2013 update - '87 LTD Crown Vic LX

Well it's about time I made an appearance on here again. I actually didn't drive the Sand Box for the 2012 season due to financial constraints, but I never once considered selling it. Has 117,000km or 73K miles on the clock, as it did a year ago. Needs valve seals, valve cover gaskets and exhaust work, which I will address in the spring when it comes out of storage.

It had been sitting in my shop until this past weekend, so I finally washed it and gave it a quick wax before putting it away properly until May. Here's some pics

(FYI, the LX badge fell off the trunklid a year or so ago and I need to remember to glue it back on one of these days)

I know that feel with missing a season.

Man I forgot there was such a clean boxybox Vic on here from Ontario.

160KMs 600cfm holley, shorty headers, 2.5" catted exhaust, 255/295 tires, cop shocks, cop swaybars, underdrive pulley, 2.73L gears.

Thanks, guys! Having not driven the car last year, I didn't give it much thought for a while and when I cleaned it up for storage last weekend, it really woke me up to how clean it is. I'm going to give it the Meguiar's 3-step treatment in the summer, as there is some light oxidation starting to rear it's head on the hood and trunk.

I haven't quite decided the direction I want to take with this car. I'd love to do an H.O. conversion and built trans, but the lopo runs like a brand new engine (original owner babied it and was obsessive with maintenance) and drives nicely with the 3.55 rear, so I'm reluctant to mess with it for now. We'll see. I have a set of turbines I might swap on this year.

It's the blue version. Picked it up in July last year. Body/paint were done sometime in the past, decent quality job that has held up. I found out after buying it that the odometer has rolled, so it has 191,000km (Canadian car; 119K miles) rather than the 91,000km (57K miles) I thought it had. I was fooled...you can barely feel the 460 running, and the interior is in good shape. The previous owners obviously took care of it. My biggest complaint: no moonroof. My friend has a parts Mark V with the moonroof, so I'm considering cutting it out for a future swap with a new blue headliner. I'll try to get some pictures posted soon.

I rent 75'x40' of shop/storage space on a farm about 15min outside of town with a buddy. Between the two of us, it got small fast (in fact, my Crown Vic had to go in another storage barn on the property), but does the job. I'm thinking of buying a house this summer with a shop and storage on-site, to consolidate everything and start building equity

I took a couple interior pics before throwing the cover on. Don't mind the driver's floor mat, it was a bit wet at the time. Gotta love the Canadian 180km/h (110mph) speedo
