Thanks man! It's really a miracle that he's alright, he's a tough guy. I'll definitely hold onto it for as long as I can, and I would love to restore it in the future. Unfortunately since I just got that 9,000 mile '98 LeSabre last weekend space is a concern.

if that pad has good speaker grills on it and no cracks then its better than mine, my speaker grills are punch in and i got a crack where the prev owner adhesive mounted his GPS. what piece of trim is missing? the only ones id need is the wheel wells and rockers, well and the quarters.

id much rather see you hold on to it though. that buick can survive outside. id like to see you fix this car. the world cant afford to lose another panther.

that's the beige interior isn't it? I need the driver side coat hook in the back seat along with the screw for it.

Sucks man. But everyone is okay which is good. That is definitely a total.

Sometimes I think about that happening to my car so it would finally be pried away from my hands because I cannot stop dumping money into it. That would be an easy way for me to get rid of it..........Sounds bad but that is the only way I see it happening.

Yep the interior is beige, although the headliner and some various pieces of trim are burgundy. I'll have to double check the color of the coat hangers

That's the same thing I told myself! I just didn't think this day would come, but life will go on, and at least if I part it out here I'll know that it'll live on in the some of the most loved panthers on the planet

I have two tan coat hooks without the screw from a 88 CV. You can have them for shipping. PM me.

I know, I know, I regret it already and I haven't even touched it yet. It kills me but I have limited options here. I either part it out and junk the rest, or let it sit under a tarp for the next decade until I have the money to fix it. I'm still waiting on numbers from the insurance adjuster, but the car definitely has severe frame damage.

PLUS it needs a new rear bumper, driver side fender, header panel, drivers side front and rear doors (yes even the doors are ruined from the jaws of life), rear passenger quarter panel, taillights, new header panel, new gas tank, new catalytic converters as well as the rest of the exhaust system (muffler etc. which was ripped clean off) , new fuel pump, new gas tank, new fuel pump, new hood, new floor pan in the trunk, new drivers side and passenger side floor pans (they got pushed into the cabin too), a new brace (I guess that's what it is) for the rear seat since the back of seat was pushed inward entering more of the cabin. The drivers seat also broke in the accident and the back of the front seat went towards the rear of the car. The tranny is PROBABLY locked up after being hit at highway speeds from a dead stop. It also needs a new radiator as it got slammed up against the block. The water pump is probably shot after being hit so hard so even if I can get it started (which I can't since the fuel pump is shot), it would over heat. Oh and I couldn't open the hood so I don't know if the impact cracked the block.

All this on top of the twisted c-pillars and frame damage.

                      Is it worth saving? No.
Did I love the car and will I always miss it? Of course, I took great care of it, but it gave it's life for a life that was more important than its own. I'll get another one. It won't be tomorrow, but I'll be back in the panther ring again someday.

The beige in 1984 is different from the beige in 1988 though so they might look a little different. I'm sorry I forgot to look at the color of the coat hangers when I went back. If they're are beige than you can have them screws and all for free, don't worry about shipping, I'll cover it. What's a $1.75 in shipping if part of my car gets to live on in yours. Just make take a picture and post it once its in your car! PM your address and I'll send em to you if they're the right color. If their burgundy you probably don't want them

UPDATE: They got back with a pre-accident estimate of $532. The current value of the car according to the other guys insurance company? $20 That's right 2-0 as in twenty dollars. This is all extremely frustrating as well as insulting

What I would suggest is do a search of all GMs in or around the same year, same general area. Ebay, Craigslist etc. Print out everything you can find. It would be ideal if you can present the "perfect one" in equal condition to your car to the insurance company. Tell them to buy it for you or give you that amount. Publications such as Hemmings, Old Cars, etc. can assist you on values. Do not give in to the insurance company. That is exactly what they want you to do. Also keep your cool when dealing with them. The hothead gets nothing.

you must have gotten a real dick then... my Merc is significantly more rough than yours.. and i was quoted 1500.. i still argued that i could sit it in my yard and get 2500. so they waived the rental fee because i didnt even use one, and gave me 2100.. they are MORE than screwing you over man. i agree with the suggestion to find and print as many as you can find.
