The problem was the mounting of the mag base, and the fact that I didn't install/torque all of my bellhousing bolts. The Tremec video said you only needed a couple bolts.
Tremec was wrong.

Whenever you're messing with critical dimensions like that, having all the bolts in is a good idea. In theory the dowels do the locating but unless its good and tight you may not have it completely flat against the mating surface.

Progress! Finally got the clutch and everything installed (was waiting on time and a couple parts). Also got the column shifter removed, pulled the steering column, and removed my pedal assembly. For good measure (and while I had it accessible) I removed my smog pipe from the back of the head, cut off the ends, and bolted them back on backwards. I won't be needing those anymore since I have no emissions

It was 100 degrees. Shorts and flip flops, and lots of bugspray
The column shifter wasn't terrible, but now I have to figure out a suitable cover for the boot that goes through the firewall. The shifter itself comes off of the steering column with a pin and a couple screws/bolts here and there. The rest of the linkage is under the car. Working on my pedal assembly tonight!

I now have a 5 speed panther! There were some modifications that had to be made (for the TKO) the trans mount will work but the crossmember needs to be modified some. Not a big deal, eventually I will make a better modification. I really, really need a welder. The angle grinder and trans jack were the REAL MVPs though!

You should see if you can change that plate to "KFC 4U" at no cost.
How is that attached to the crossmember? Looks like you cut the middle out and its just laying there. No es bueno. That thing will be very weak with a hunk cut from it.

It is just like that for now, since the tailshaft backbone wouldn't clear. I am going to box the crossmember correctly, don't worry. It will actually run a stock (new) AOD mount. It is actually in there too. No bolts in it presently.
I just registered in in Alabama, I pick up my plate next weenend.
