No kidding, it'd be a lot less heart attack inducing if it defaulted to high pressure.
So taking a trip this Saturday (about 1000 miles) , ordered in preparation;
All new hoses
New Belts
Fresh coolant (obviously)
Valvoline 10-30 and a FL1A
PCV Trio
Today I greased and inspected the front end, cleaned and greased the battery terminals, checked the spare, and put my road toolbox and jack in the trunk.

Whadja do that for?! Someone already replaced those hoses for you, you must like spending money /s
That's I roll with the stuff we pick up. Peace of mind for going down the road. Although it looks like you're missing the ground that goes from the core support to the battery.1985 LTD Crown Victoria - SOLD

You put that Type F in the power steering pump, and not the transmission I hope.
Don't think 86 had the extra grounds. Mine never had them anyway.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

I didnt see any obvious signs of a missing ground, guess I'll have to research further.

yeah, it wants F in the PS pump. Makes them a lot quieter, though just changing nasty old fluid will do that too.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

It's amazing. Didn't realize how loud it was until I started it today, and it's silent in the engine compartment. New belts helped too.
Didn't mess with the trans fluid. Trans was rebuilt at 140k, and it's a nice pink color. I'll do it at the end of summer maybe

Yeah the PS pump in my newer '90 sounds like ass. It was low so I added some fluid today, but I picked up some type f to replace it with. Got over there to do it and realized I didn't have anything to remove old fluid with and was awaiting the tow truck for dead car. Doh! Maybe next weekend...

unhooking the return hose drains them very nicely, but the hose is usually rock and will generally need to be cut off and replaced if you want to do it that way. Probably not a bad idea honestly.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Well I finally got the rear two windows back to working.
The bushings were obviously destroyed, so I pulled, cleaned, installed new ones, greased and reinstalled.
Used the doorman window plug set, worked great.
When I pulled the panels I was pleasantly surprised to see how beautifully mint the doors really are, not a single spec of rust pleasant.
I oiled down inside of the door bottoms, for piece of mind, and removed the old sticky grease on the window tracks and regreased them as well. Used dielectric grease on the window motor harness plugs too.
Both windows are fast and quiet, and now stay all the way up. They would droop down about a quarter inch before, and this made it quite noisy driving around. Very happy with the results.
Also had a friend run the VIN and looks like the car was:
Bought new in Junction City, Oregon, there from April 18th 1986- June of 1997. Phoenix Arizona from 97-2013, then Michigan until I bought it. Explains why it's so clean.
Took a nice 200 mile cruise today, long road trip is postponed for now, due to my buddy's work schedule.
Freshly fixed motor
And look! A Ben Franklin 5 and dime. Saw it in Wilmington Illinois today, haven't seen one in years.

my car starts and it has AC. Yours doesn't start and it has no AC. Seems obvious to me.
