Just remember, getting another speedo...you're going to run into the same problem eventually. That one could even have stripped gears, already.

That thought just crossed my mind. Any more info on finding a new gear for '91 140mph cluster, # of teeth, etc.? Are any of these: www.odometergears.com/subpages/ford.html
      the right one?

      Thanks

Too bad you don't live closer to me. I have swapped gears, clusters, etc, many times. I have several gauge clusters,(sorry no 140's), if you want one. I have swapped the good gear from the trip odometer into the odometer for a customer too. WagonMan

I'm your best customer from MA. I buy all my Panther parts from you. How much for a 85 MPH or 140 MPH speedo with the replaced gears?

The odometer on my 1990 cv has stopped working..... a pain. I do not go on long trips and only like to look at it to time my oil changes. If the trip meter ran over 1000 I would use it for that purpose. Maybe I will just install a 12v hour meter and do my oil changes based on running time...................OR maybe I will just change the oil once a year ..... on my birthday !!! Now that would be easy

if you haven't driven much since you bought it, I'd get the odo repaired. It can be a bitch to sell a car in Ontario if it looks like you barely drove it after you got it. Even if you tell the buyer what happened, the MTO will still probably give you a hassle if you report a few hundred or even very few thousand KM more than was reported when you bought it after months or years of ownership.

My odometer and trip both stopped working and they were like that for a long time before I found repair kits for them. It doesn't matter if it's the standard cluster or police 140 cluster the gears all eventually melt. And they have to be replaced with hard plastic gears. It takes two repair kits per car if both odometer and trip have stopped working. And they are not cheap!!

I have one extra kit I never used if it will help anyone, just let me know!

Great link.. I have ordered one myself... I bought my car about 1.5 months ago and the ODO had been broke for 4 years. It will live again.
