What are common water leak areas.....

Inside the driver kick panel and foot well?I am trying to find a leak. It does not show up till hours after the rain starts. It puddles (and i use that very loosely) right next to the drivers kick panel underneath the carpet. I am at a loss, i cannot find this damn leak.

On my 91 there was a hole in the cowl under the hood near the air inlet for the cabin. Another thing to check would be the drains on the cowl. It could be filling up and running in the air inlet.

The air inlet is on the passengers side right?

I just went out to check on the car. We had a sudden massive down pour and i saw that the LTD Crown Victoria emblems on the vinyl top (both sides) are leaking like a mofo. drips all the way down on the interior (i have everything removed). Really pissed me off. I have to wait for a dry day and silicone the tits, that stick through the body, up real good and hope it solves the problem.

87gtVIC , I just reread yiour post. I had trhe same thing happen with my Merc on the passenger side. For me, it turned out to be the front passenger door. With the dew wipes in less than stellar shape, rain was getting in the door. The drain holes in the bottom of the door were clogged shut, causing the door to fill up to the first open hole (DOOR CLIP HOLES), and running into the floorboard, right at the kickpanel/footwell area. I took the door apart, and found that at some point, the passenger window had been broken, and replaced. Whoever did the job, never cleaned the glass out of the bottom, causing the drain holes to clog. So for shits, and giggles, I would open up the drivers door, and see what's in there. Don't be too surprised as to what you might find in there.

Thanks Mike but i assure you that is not the problem. I actually have the door panels off already (patiently waiting for paint, because the door panels need to be removed in order to remove the dew wipe and such). Everything is all clear in there. But i can see how that is a problem for some including you. I think it was the grommet between the door and body that was taking on water and dripping into the drivers side floor board.

Dew wipes are easy to change

Yeah, I just read your sticky thread. Definitely a weekend project, as I need to do the r/f window motor, l/f door lock motor, the dew wipes, and of course, better speakers. And , with us both being stuck in NY, the issue of (dare I say it......................) RUST!!!!!! aauuuugggghhhhh!!!!!!!! LOL

GOD"S SAKES, NO!!!! I have an 89, the last year for the real dashboard. I have a friend who has a 90, and I can't get in with the "KNEEBUSTER" dash. And with the wife, and daughter, I already have "DUAL AIRBAGS", I don't need a third. LMAO!! Though, I must admit, I'd like to retrofit the rear shoulder belts, but I believe that it would take some restructering of the inner "C" pillars.

Check the cowl and run a shop vac to get out all the leaves that like to build up in there. My first GMQ had a rust hole in the cowl and I patched it with roofing cement. Seals up anything and works a little better than silicone.

My 87 2 door had alot of clear silicone all over the place. Interior door panel, various trim pieces ect... damn is that shit a bitch to remove

I checked there too. All leaves and debris is cleared. Waiting for another downpour to see if i can detect if i stopped the leak or not.

Any grommets where wires pass through on the firewall open? Sometimes when you get a hard rain it will drip down in the open holes and get in the interior. Check the firewall too.

I think i am getting closer too the leak. I believe it to be the door hinge bolts. Not sure yet but i will update once i seal them up and test them out.

NO, he just has the "regular" stereo. And he hasn't upgraded. I, on the otherhand, have the "premium" sound system, with the door speakers. Because of the previously stated water problem,I need to change my speakers out.
