Ever since i had my 97 grand marquis, everything is in perfect condition except for the back door. It opens fine from the outside but when your inside it wont open? It sounds like it might be a child safety lock or something of that nature or even a problem with the door from the inside, i was wondering how i could fix this and what might possibly be wrong?

A rod may have popped free from the handle. Since you'll need to do it anyway, take off the door panel and look while working the handle to see if the rods are moving back to the latch mechanism.

Do these cars have that child lock thing? Some cars have a little switch on the rear edge near the latch that you can flip to disable the inside door pull.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

I played around with the door, everythings working fine on the inside, its my child safety lock thats sticking. I played around with it and it seems to be working okay for now.
