The name game....what is it called? "86 MGM Tudor.

I need to remove the seat belt bolts that attach to the floor..........what is that special socket called?

Could not go down and dirty by using a large flat blade screwdriver....could not apply enough torque to break the bolt loose

    Thanks in advance!

Torx bolt is what you are looking to remove. Need a T50 socket. Spay the sucker from under the car first. These are notorious for breaking your torx bits.

And if that's the case you may want the red canister thing that shoots out awful tasting white powdery stuff on hand.

The 90 had red thread locker on them. I had to use a breaker bar. Helps also if you have a helper holding pressure on the bit. Why they didn't use regular bolts I don't know.

Near as I can tell, Ford engineers decided that each car had to have a few parts on them that just totally fuck with you. You may not find them 'til YEARS into owning one, but I guaran-goddamn-tee it's on there...

I think it may have something to do with safety. "Normal" Joe's at home probably do not have a torx set and therefor cannot stupidly mess with the seatbelts. Now why ford used these for securing the rear seat backs in place.....IDK. Its hidden underneath the rear seat bottom so we will just forget about that.

I wanna know why they used them on the rear control arms on boxes. Bastards.

I always soak seat bolts in WD-40 or PB Blaster for 2-3 days after removing them too, don't hurt. Wipe the rust off with paper towel. They shouldn't get stuck again :p
