just thought id put a group of pictures together.

1985 Ford LTD Crown Victoria (according to Ford it is a LX, but it is not badged, and it only has/d cruise as an option.)

I bought the car in Spring of 2000. the original motor blew in december of 2000. Over the next 18 months the motor was replaced with another lo-po 5.0, but had a Weiand Action-Plus intake and a Holley 600 vac. carb installed. The motor was replaced with a used oil-pump. after about 6 months of driving it, I parked it. over the next 2.5 years i got almost nothign done to the car itself, about the last 6 months of that time i built the engine and assembled parts. over the next few months I installed the motor, rebuilt the rear end with a 3.55 and a trac-lok, aklso installed rear disc. I stripped all the excessive weight out of the car. I re-tagged the car again in late October of 2005, on a Thursday. that saturday i drove it 40 miles each way to the Drag strip and ran a 15.98 @90 with no traction and a crappy hal-blow AOD

If you would like any information, or a closer look at anything PM me or respond in this thread.

Whatcha doing with the t-bird rear cover?

I'd think that the way the arms are boxed will cause the metal shells to rip out of the rest of the arm. I'd weld the shells to the arm or weld 'em up all the way.

DuceAnAHalf
12-13-2005, 06:07 PM
the T-bird rear cover was going to be the mount for a torque-arm and Watts. but i think that im going to run a Three link and a watts.

mrltd
12-13-2005, 06:12 PM
Sweet, that's what I figured. I gotta decide on the rear setup for the wagon.

Ever look at an aerostar 3 link? Might be an easy thing to modify for a panther.

DuceAnAHalf
12-13-2005, 06:15 PM
Ill just build a third link, using some 3/4" chrom-moly rod ends and use a threaded tube to adjust the pinion angle.

mrltd
12-13-2005, 06:18 PM
Easy enough also.

Looks great! I have really enjoyed watching your build up Duce! ;) I like the rear tails with the black border and the classic LTD in the lights. Are you going to do any black accents with the new front? I really liked the blacked out front before.

I might black out some of the center of the grill. If i can find another early grill i might paint it black but i dont want to mess up my 79 grill and not be able to find another.

Composistion 4 also known as "C4" is an explosive. A C4 is a three speed non-overdrive transmission, first built in the early 1960's

Figured it was about time to update this.

i painted the hood and the scoop flat black, i also put the black front end back on.
I also replaced the original chromed steel bumper with an aluminum bumper off of an 85 wagon.

http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/503485/fullsize/img_0339.jpg

I replaced the E7 heads with a set of E8JE heads (early marine GT-40 heads)
when i did this i cleaned up the intake casting a little.
next day i ran a 13.37 @99 with a passenger and a glitchy nitrous system.

http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/477642/fullsize/img_0122.jpg

I added an additional cooling fan and a second tranny cooler,
i also boxed in the radiator to help with cooling (it does not get above 190degrees anymore).

http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/479095/fullsize/img_0128.jpg

i installed the Kirkey drivers seat, i now have a
passenger side seat also, just have not replaced it yet.
http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/431641/fullsize/img_2472.jpg

I have removed the back seat and rear deck, both have been replaced with .032" aluminum.

http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/431648/fullsize/img_2468.jpg

I have also recovered the headliner, it now has a raised "LTD" logo in it.

http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/305124/fullsize/122_2237.jpg

Front suspension now has the original springs back in it,
along with a set of Competition Engineering 90/10 shocks,
also the front sway bar has been removed. best 60' time is a 1.92.

here are my two 13 second timeslips.
http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/497384/original/img_0185.jpg

here is my best run.
http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/450901/fullsize/whitecrownvicvsblueacura.wmv

here is the best dyno graph from the old heads. this was a nitrous pull,
the nitrous plate had the wrong fuel hole in it so it ran pig rich (well richer than 10.1)
the pull is from 3000 rpm to 5,000rpm, with valve float starting at around 4500.
http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/433071/fullsize/dyno-run-2.jpg

it put down 213/280 on motor alone and the "125" shot only increased it to 270/308,
it should have been more like 330/420. that is through an automatic with a non-lock up converter
so there is a good 25% driveline loss

Got the exterior painted. the desert camoflage paint scheme is inspired from a German Panther tank from WWII, the cross is not a nazi symbol, it was used to identify german vehicles, and is still in use in germany today.

also in the process of painting the engine components form the Ford blue to a tiger stripe pattern

http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/620269/fullsize/img_0701.jpg
you can see here that the throttle bracket is tiger stripe also
http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/620270/fullsize/img_0702.jpg

i have also removed the power steering system

I know I'm digging up bones here, but what belt did you end up going with after you ditched the power steering?
