Edit: not sure where I got the name "Arrow", maybe it was a carb rebuilder back in the early '90s. Here's the animal I was talking about: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-8...spagenameZWDVW
They used to make 3 bbl carbs...I wanna say it was Holley that did that. Two individual venturis for the primaries and one big ovular venturi for the secondary. No new ideas under the sun hehe

wait ..... now that you mention it, the mental image seems vaguely familiar. Wonder how the secondary booster was shaped?

edit: just answered my own question ....

        auction says something about Baldwin-Motion .... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NOS-H...spagenameZWDVW

that things has like the weirdest choke ever - cable in-carb linkage, air when closed passes only through the venturis - interesting concept

Without looking at the auction, the Stage III big-block cars of 1970-1971 from Motion came with that carb, the Vette and the Camaro. Nasty freaking cars, the Motion Camaro Stage III was guaranteed for 11.20's or so in the 1/4 mile, straight from the dealership. Having seen one make a pass....clicking off a 12-flat with slicks and a mild launch....

Funny thing is, I hadn't even really noticed that! Does look pretty neat though, and less likelihood of stalling out with the choke actually closed all the way.

Actually I have mine set up just the opposite - my choke defaults to closed position, which makes shutting down a dieseling engine as simple as a flip of the tiny lever and a tap on the gas pedal. Now if my choke cable snaps while driving and tries to kill the engine I can keep it running with the secondaries till I find a place to pull over, then it's just a matter of disconnecting an external spring on the passenger side of the carb and I'm back in business.

Also very interesting. Does your truck diesel like that a lot?

never did, hopefully never will cause if it does then something's royally effed-up, tis more of a precaution than anything else really. By the way my carb being markeded as a Q-jet direct replacement (who would replace a Q-jet with a DP anyways?) is supposed to run a remote heat choke, and since I ain't got that I made me a manual chocke, there ain't no such thing as a no start on a cold morning no more.

Yeah, hot-air chokes are pretty much evil. Part of why I ended up upgrading from my 2150, because I just couldn't get the choke to work right without going to either manual or electric choke operation. Last time I drove with that, the car was barely limping along even with my foot all the way to the floor ..........

I never had a choke, the engine as is when I got it was missing the hot air coil, and all linkages for the choke for that matter - I really had no choice but go with a manual for the Q-jet, and my Offy intake don't have provisions for hot air coil while the carb expects one - manual choke it is again, besides I already had the cable setup from the Q-jet so it went into use again. By the way, have you notice what I use to control them damn flappers?
