    No check engine light in my TC?

    Did the 88 TC come with a check engine light? because as far as I can tell, there is not one in my car.

    2011 Lincoln Town Car Signature Limited- Black on black, ADTR sway bars, 19" Mustang GT rims, Heinous rear control arms, dual exhaust with Flowmaster 10 series mufflers. MHS Stage 2 heads/cams, 80mm MAF, 75mm BBK throttle body, Accufab plenum, Stainless Works long tube headers, Ford Racing 24# injectors. ADTR T56 swap with Hurst shifter. 264HP/298TQ at the rear wheels.

    Yellow check engine light didn't get installed in Panther chassis cars until 1989.

    your car should have a Red "engine" light, though. when this light comes on, the oil pressure is low or the engine is overheating.

          no yellow check engine light.......when the red replace engine light comes it's usually too late

          1986 lincoln towncar signature series. 5.0 HO with thumper performance ported e7 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, warm air intake, 65mm throttle body, 1/2" intake spacer, ported intakes, 3.73 rear with trac lock, 98-02 front brake conversion, 92-97 rear disc conversion, 1" rear swaybar, 1 3/16" front swaybar, 16" wheels and tires, loud ass stereo system, badass cb, best time to date 15.94 at 87 mph. lots of mods in the works 221.8 rwhp 278 rwt

            I think the point of my post was missed. I have no lights on my dash period that reference the engine. I have the small cluster of square lights to the left of the IP, for oil, seatbelts, door, washer fluid, amps, check oil, and temp. That's it.

              Towncars don't have a replace engine light. They have a red oil pressure light in the idiot light cluster, and a temperature gauge. There is also no check engine computer light.

                Yeah, I always wondered this. There's oil, and then check oil. Is one oil pressure and one's oil level? That seems sort of redundant to me.

                      correct - i reckon the oil level light helps you keep oil in it so the oil pressure light doesn't come on.

                        Cool, thanks guys. On the Marquis I had at 17, I was never sure what year it was, there was a discrepancy between the VIN, registration papers, and what it was sold as. VIN told me 88 but it was sold as an '89 but every single piece of registration information said '89. It had a yellow check engine light - Now I know
