                P head swap has been finished for about 3 weeks now. Car is running better than ever and has a noticable low and mid-range power increase. fuel mileage is up too !

                Made several improvements/upgrades while I had the car apart;
                Explorer P heads with mild porting
                TFS valve springs
                1.7 Cobra Rocker arms
                ASP under drive crank pulley
                3 core radiator
                flex a lite 298 electric fan
                3G alternator upgrade
                new water pump

                For headers, I used tubular manifolds from a 90 town car. they are working very well and have minimal spark plug/wire interference problems. #5 and #6 were very close, so I dimpled the tubes and used a 90 degree plug boot. #7 had some contact issues because of the engine oil dipstick tube. I got some hi-heat protector boots at the parts store and insulated #7 plug boot to fix that.

                I managed to mis-place the $100 fan control module, so the fan is wired to a manual on/off switch for now. I installed a temp gauge so I can monitor engine coolant temp and turn the fan on when it gets too hot. I will order another fan controler in next few weeks. so far, the 3 core radiator is doing its job, with the cooler weather, the engine is running a constant 200 degrees most of the time. it creeps up to about 220 in traffic. the huge fan pulls the coolant temps down about 30 degrees in about 15 seconds.

                  all told, what did the head swap itself run you, including gaskets and fasteners and all that?

                  That sounds like a nice setup you have.

                      never added it up ... but i have been accumulating parts for almost a year.
                      I would guess about $700 for heads, springs, rockers and gaskets.
                      well over a $1000 when you include the cost of the Fan and controller.

                              about a day and half... most of the the time was spent taking the heads apart.
                              my crappy valve spring compressor slowed me down.
