VA won't let me run side exhausts and pass inspection. The book says exhaust cannot exit under or beside the passenger compartment.

Well, side exhaust looks stupid on a 4dr.

I can pull it off on a 2dr.

I've only owned two four door panthers.

                      Since you've owned 3 2drs, i'd expect that opinion

The best answer for what kind of mufflers is NONE. Not loud at all - if you have the stock converters in place.

HO with Explorer Cam, Electric Fan, Cop Sway Bars, Dual exhaust with no mufflers, 15x7" American Racing; 215/70R15's front, 255/60R15's rear, 3.55's with Trak-Lok.

It's not really quiet by any means. My wife said the my '85 sounds 6000 times better than my '87 with straightpipes and converters did. It's less raspy and rough sounding. I tend to agree having gone with a decent muffler now..

My car sounded alot better with mufflers on instead of straight duals right off the cats. It was very rapsy sounding and not as deep as I thought it would be, and it was really noisy. I still have the original 128k cats and with the mufflers I have it sounds pretty deep and is even better at WOT, but I don't have the h-pipe though.
