    Front Brake Upgrade

I am dead set on upgrading the front brakes on my tudor so Ive been shopping around a bit. I found a yard down in philly that specializes in caprices and crown vics so I asked about the parts Id need. Front spindles, rotor and calipers for $100.00.

That sound like a fair price? Id still need the upper control arm, which I could probably find on another car there, brake lines, and ball joints. Id like to use new lines and ball joints anyway.

How would I go about changing out the shafts?

Pull the bushings from both the priginal upper arm and the new one. Insert the shaft into the new arm, and install new bushings.

you'll need a press to get the outer sleeve out of the control arm dont you? to clear the shaft?
and make sure you get the hub/bearing unit for that price too, and spin it to listen for any wear. caliper braket too... hell just tell them the spindle and everything attached to it. They may give you loose parts...

Are you going to do a rear disk swap to compliment your more powerful front brakes?

no press pete......you need to save the outer shells, the poly bushing set does not come with outer shells........i took a grinder and took maybe 1/16" off of the wide part of the shaft so it would slide in........wreck away on the oe upper arm, just dont damage the shaft
