    underbody brace issues

So I went to put on my underbody braces today... and my car only has six of the eight holes to install them. It only has one hole for each side on the front, then only one of the holes on the drivers side (under the floorboard) I was able to get to line up.

They're on there right now and aint budging... but theres only two bolts on one and three on the other. The bar that has the three bolts was bent in the first place, and it fit better!

Frame issues? Or is there a certain way to install them?? (doubt it, but hey)

not all the panthers were equipped or have all the right mount spots on them. its like some other things these cars have differences with. some have braces, some have half the braces(upper bracing/lower bracing), some have none. depends when it was produced, and who werked the line is my guess.

Base models didn't usually get those it seems. police cars, wagons, and handling package cars usually got them. drill the holes for the missing bolts, you should be good to go.

I don't have any on my POS unfortunately, 1987 P72. They are diagonal braces in the forward part of the engine bay from the radiator support to the fenders on the top, and from the lower cross member under the oil pan to the outside edges of the frame.

I have the holes for them in the 85, but my smog tubes were in the way... the underbody ones go fron the engine "K member" to the frame.

If you have 3/4" diameter bars from the middle of the engine crossmember under the car to the frame under the A pillar, you have them.

The other braces are small bars from the rad support to the fenders. Usually a wagon thing but sometimes cop cars have them too. I stuck a set on my car. Not remotely convinced they do anything but its something to lean on when reaching across the engine bay.
