Bad valve seals will not cause low compression. They cause oil smoke on startup, and burning oil, but it has nothing to do with compression. Those 90s Vics and Towncars you see with the trail of blue smoke have bad valve seals. Burnt valves on the other hand, thats a different story. How exactly was he testing it? Normally you have to do a leakdown test to pinpoint where the compression is being lost.

Compression wasn't the issue in this case. The cylinders passed the compression and leak-down tested, and did fine. So my rings are (atleast for now), intact. The problem is, the leaking valve seals are dumping oil into #8 cylinder. Under normal load driving, it doesnt get enough oil in the combustion chamber to not be able to burn it up. But over time, or longterm highway speeds, it gets enough oil into the cylinder, that it straight fouls up the plug in #8. Basically I just have to keep a few clean plugs in my glove-box until it starts to miss again. Then just change #8 and take the fould out one to my mechanic who'll put it in the scrubber and clean it off. Its a protracted way to run the car properly, but until I get a motor built, its just the right fix for my budget.

Hmm. Sounds like my old engine, except I had a blown head gasket. Cylinder # 2 was dead, it might've been leaking valve seals in that cylinder cause the rings were intact as well.

Many of us run Brian's transmissions.

I have one in my vic, Nate runs one, gabe runs one, thain has one...

Monty, mrltd, and phayzer5, and David's superlinc all have Brian-build WR-AODs as well.

              No complaints from any

How much does Brian charge for AOD rebuild and to ship? I may consider that in near future, probably would be cheaper than the local tranny shop here. The local tranny shop here charged me $800 for complete reseal!:bs:
