huzzah! my coolant tank/fan shroud from a 90 TC and AOD TV cable (dunno what its from, don't matter) are on the way to me! I shall cease any rumor spreading about john sexton and his obsession with wearing ladies clothing.

when my intake goes back on it'll have an aero panther air box/snorkel rigged up instead of the goofy accordion fireplace it had before

It's not like it's the end of the world or anything but I just realized that I didn't mark the dizzy position before I pulled it out of the engine. Oh well!

It's supposed to be nice out this week. I'm just going to grind* the old caked on gaskets off of the cylinder heads, the razor blade just ain't cuttin' it. literally.

      * - not actually with a grinder. dremel and sanding wheels ftw

finally found a shop that actually builds motors as their business.

200 bucks to bore the block 30 over, 35 bucks for cam bearings, 130 to clean and install the bearings. Not too fuckin' bad.

Nice! What do you got planned?

I wanted to do the same, but I still don't have a green light for assembling an engine in the basement. I just have to butter up my father a bit more or just nag him to death until he agrees:smirk:

Surface conditioning disks are good for this too, though I've often just used a wire wheel.

I've been very happy with the nice gasket scraper I bought at NAPA on a whim a few years ago. Looks pretty much like this one:

I also just found out there's a Permatex product called "Gasket Remover", not sure what its benefits would be though.

I just saw a discussion on gasket removing on Motorweek yesterday, they said the remover softens up the gasket, like Exlax I suppose.

They said absolutely do not use a scraper on aluminum parts. Too late!

When I clicked on this thread it brought me directly to the pic of the cat. My first thought was "send it back." My cat doesn't bother with parts or anything like that. She will take the time to sit on every dark colored article of clothing that I got. Which was the reason for the above statement. Yeah, I gotta find one of those shrouds or get a small reservoir and hang it somewhere.

we had our first good snow today - No LTD driving until the spring. I don't have a place to work on it besides my driveway so progress will be a bit slow.

That's pretty much my sentiment during the winter too. It's warm enough to work on the CV, but the weather does have a tendency to change quickly. Since the car is my mom's DD, I just slap the winter tires on there and wash it every two or three weeks to keep the salt off of the car. Next Spring when the weather breaks, I will start working on the suspension projects again.

It's kind of a bummer, I was hoping to get the cam/ported intakes/bigger injectors on, but RTV will have a bitch of a time curing in -20

Not much sense in it anyway if I can't drive it. I've just been going out and wiping down the gasket mating surfaces on the heads/block with WD40 to keep em from rusting.

Wow, I really don't know what to say here...the panthers in the Maritimes are put away due to considerable snowfall before mine here in Labrador! Yes it's been a little chilly here (went down to -15 night before last) but there's nothing more than a dusting of snow yet. I'll put mine to bed when it gets to be enough that I would have to brush the snow off of the car. For now I'm getting away with just turning on the wipers and driving a distance of approximately 96 metres @ 49 km/h...lol. All the snow just blows off on it's own

I kinda like driving the Lincoln in cooler dry air, seems to be more gutsy than when the air is heavier and warmer. Albeit she likes more gas then too, but I don't move it until it warms up good when the weather is cold...

I drove it the last two winters. Not gonna subject the underside to road salt ever again now that I have the shitmobile to drive around.
