So need to take off hood...only did my 78, and I am rusty on the how. I will have to swap over to the new fender....any alignment issue....hood closing and such I should consider?

The trim, what's the best direction/ mode of attack to take that off?

On the hood, leave the other side hinge attached to the fender and the side getting the replacement fender leave the hinge attached to the hood.
Any adjustments during install should then be at the hood side of the hinge on P-side, and fender side of the hinge on D-side. Close it slowly the first time after install to make sure it's not going to hit/rub. If it does hit or rub put it back up and make your adjustments.

Trim, I think pushes up then pull toward you the top?

The trim in question is the door trim?

There should be two small acorn nuts that need to be removed. One at the front of the door and one at the rear of the door. Remove those little guys and then just push up on that stud and then slowly pull the trim off the door. As the plastic clips release the trim you will hear popping sounds. That is just the metal trims lips popping over the clips.

When/if you get to the trim on the trim behind the doors, and on the other fender those you have to remove the screws from the wheel well and then pull the trim towards the wheel well opening some and the c lips will find a relief hole and come out.

Damn, thank you gentleman, bet no one can tell I am a body/ hood / fender virgin. Got about half way through and getting the hood off tomorrow. Bolts are coming out to easy knock on wood.

Why take the hood off? I never do to replace a fender. Stick a couch cushion under the back edge against the windshield and use a broomstick to hold the front
of the hood up. You can then unbolt the hinge assembly. WagonMan

The studs like to screw themselves out of the header panel. Even if the studs don't look too rusty, the nut doesn't want to budge and takes the whole stud with it. When it goes back together, maybe put some anti-seize on them nut side of the stud for the ones that stayed in the header panel like they were supposed to.

I would just pull the whole header panel and address the studs on both sides, but that's just my .

Ah. That's good to know. So they could theoretically be made functional. Interesting. Now I understand a few stories I've heard.

Got the trim off, now, the vast majority of this area is covered by trim. Should I lightly sand....por15, then bondo?

That’s neat with the fender inserts.

as far as the rust goes- I’d wire wheel it, use a rust converter, then POR15 it
